Asset Overview

This bracelet is made of whale bone and decorated with lines of dentalium shell. It was collected on Captian Cook's third voyage at Prince William Sound, which is located on the east side of the Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. It was previously part of the Levarian collection, which was assembled by Ashton Lever and included many items from Captain Cook's voyages. After several decades on display in London, the collection was broken up and sold at auction - where the Cuming family bought a [number of items](http://heritage.southwark.gov.uk/people/2080/leverian-museum/objects) which remain in the collection today.
