An incomplete repaired sheet copper alloy metal hinge or possible buckle plate of probable Medieval dating (c. AD 1200 to AD 1500).
The hinge has been made from one piece of sheet copper alloy metal folded over and three rectangular loops cut out. The base is rectangular, with an incomplete circular rivet hole present on the outer edge. The hinge has been repaired twice. Once when the left hand loop broke, and another sheet of copper alloy metal was inserted inside the hinge with a new loop and riveted in place. The rivet is now missing. The second repair is a reenforcement plate on the underneath of the right hand loop. This still has a copper alloy rivet holding it in place, with that rivet hole being placed above the original hole. The old hole has an internal diameter of 3.0 mm. No decoration is present on either side.
