Asset Overview

Wooden pulley wheel from the wreck of the Earl Of Abergavenny. ID:EOA:2022.91.2 Collection: Earl of Abergavenny Classification: Ship’s structure/function Measurements: Diameter 112mm Depth 24mm Date made: circa late 18th century Display: not on display Manufacturer/Creator: as yet unknown Credit: Portland Museum Trust Much like the other pulley blocks that have been recovered, it appears that there is very little in the way of standardisation for these wheels. Seventy nine have been recovered so far, all different sizes which suggests that they were all made as individual units.
