Asset Overview
A multi-period settlement recorded by aerial LiDAR scanning.
The site at Wrunklaw almost certainly comprises the remains of a prehistoric promontory fort, cut off and defended from the land to the NW by a deep ditch and rampart, probably some time in the later first millenium BC. The buildings visible in the interior were built much later, and the best preserved are probably the remnants of a post-medieval farmstead, though earlier, medieval occupation certainly can't be ruled out. The site has never been excavated.
