The Boeing 747 is a large, long–range wide-body airliner and cargo aircraft manufactured by Boeing Commercial Airplanes in the United States. The lastest version, 747-8, was launched on November 14, 2005, with new General Electric GEnx engines, and was first delivered in October 2011. The passenger version, named 747-8 Intercontinental or 747-8i, can carry 467 passengers in a typical three-class configuration over 7,790 nmi (14,430 km). The -8i’s upper deck is lengthened compared to the 747-400; the wing is thicker and deeper, holding more fuel, and wider with raked wingtips.
The 747-8i is the biggest airliner of the Boeing Company, and the world’s fastest commercial jet.
