Wanting to learn 3D Modelling with professional instruction I'm working my way through the CG Cookie flow structure. This excercise is at the end of the 'Modeling with Modifiers' we have to create a wheel with some stipulations. Mainly it has to use at least two modifiers, and must contain a wheel, rim, spokes and treads.
The modifiers I've used are
Mirror. Array. Subsurf.
I got a little stuck with the array modifier in a circle motion as I could never get it to look right when I applied subsurf - this led me to discover that subsurf throws a bit of a wobbler if I have lots of tris and ngons, so led me to tidy up the spokes which resulted in cleaner surface.
Once I gain more experiance and I'm more comfortable I'd like to come back to this excercise and improve it, and also apply some materials.
