The De Havilland Mosquito is one of the most iconic and highly praised aircraft of the second world war. It is a British twin-engine multi-role aircraft. The aircraft excelled in several roles such as reconnaissance, fighter, bomber, night fighter and intercepter. The aircraft earned the nickname the 'wooden wonder' due to its entire plywood construction, this gave it a great power to wieght ratio and made it at the time of its development the fastest aircraft in the world with a top speed of 415 mph this made its speed its greatest defence being able to outrun German fighters. The mosquito was loved by its crews and has gone down as one of the RAF greats alongside the Spitfire and the Lancaster.
