This chubby-faced boy's head was hewn from marble. We don't know where his toga-clad body is. To have this protrait made, he must have belonged to an upper-class family, and in fact he resembles some portraits from the Julio-Claudian imperial family. Perhaps this unknown prince was appointed to succeed the emperor and his statue marked the occasion.
Marble, Rome, ca AD 20-40. Inventory number: 9350
