Modern communication may be all about smart phones and technology, but in days gone by, it fell to town criers to relay the City's important news from the steps of the Town Hall. This bell originates from the nineteenth century and has been rung countless times to alert local residents to incoming news. It continues to be used today for announcing special announcements.
