Asset Overview
My submission for the SGD 116 Bear project.
This was my first experience working with Substance Painter outside of guided tutorials. I had a lot of fun experimenting with it throughout the week, eventually I came up with a way to modify the mesh using subdivisions and tessellation to generate something that resembled stuffed animal fur. I think it looks alright, but it’s nowhere near perfect. I think the method I used severely limited the model’s usability, the subdivisions took the model from 5.6k tris to ~800k tris, which is way too heavy for a prop. I'm sure there is a more practical way to create hair - and depending on the size of this guy in game, the subdivision count could be reduced.
That said, I learned a lot during this exercise, and it motivated me to dive deeper into substance painter. I am looking forward to the next project!
