Asset Overview

The radiation limits in the EPA are modeled based on the organ sizes of the Reference Man who is defined as “being between 20-30 years of age, weighing 70 kg, is 170 cm in height, and lives in a climate with an average temperature of from 10°C to 20°C. He is a Caucasian and is a Western European or North American in habitat & custom.” Other races, genders, ages, and sexes are vulnerable under this environmental law. The children presented are the result of children meshes animated to grow up too fast to encompass these organs and in turn become protected. The digital stretch marks show the violence of modeling derived from a white patriarchal system. Bodies become topologies and landscapes where conquest and exclusivity was carried out in the name of universal scientific progress. The bodies function as masks for their own protection, for rememberance, for hybridity as a form of moving into a new future while containing the past. This is part of my sculptural installation Golden Hour Bodies.
