This extinct Tumidocarcinus giganteus crab is my largest fossil prep project to date and took 208 hours to complete. It's around 12 million years old (mid-Miocene) and is one of the larger specimens I have seen. I found it more than 2 years ago, as a concretion, on a secluded beach.
After prepping some smaller crabs, I finally felt ready to do this crab justice.
The 3D model was created using photogrammetry and is made up of 14 million vertices.
