*Megatherium americanum* – skull fragment with teeth Description: This is a 3D laser surface scan of a fragment of the right maxilla with the 2nd and 3rd molariforms. The specimen has been horizontally sectioned, with the smaller separate (NHMUK PV M 16588b). It was collected in 1832-1833 at Punta Alta in Argentina by Darwin and is between 126,000 and 8,000 years old and has been scanned as part of the Museum’s Darwin Fossil Mammals digitisation project.
