This unfinished marble sculpture by **Michelangelo Buonarroti** is in the Bargello gallery in Florence, Italy.
Originally commissioned by Baccio Valori, commissary of the pontifical troops, the sculpture passed into the hands of the Duke of Florence after Valori was accused of treason and decapitated on the orders of Cosimo I de' Medici.
The figure can be alternatively interpreted as **Apollo**, in the act of drawing an arrow from his quiver, or **David**, with the head of Goliath at his feet.
