[Moa nunui (South Island giant moa, *Dinornis robustus*) ](https://nzbirdsonline.org.nz/species/south-island-giant-moa) is an extinct species of bird from Aotearoa. Several species of moa used to live in Aotearoa, and all of these species were flightless. Moa nunui was the largest moa species and females were larger than males.
