Asset Overview

3D scanned *Myathropa florea* (Linnaeus 1758) captured using **scAnt**, our affordable and open-source platform for the creation of digital 3D models of arthropods and small objects. ScAnt consists of a scanner and a Graphical User Interface which enable the automated generation of multi-view Extended-Depth-Of-Field (EDOF) images. These images are simultaneously processed and masked with a novel approach combining random forest-based edge-detection, adaptive thresholding, and connected component labelling. This specimen was caught in London, Wormwood scrubs, United Kingdom Body length: 14.82 mm The same masked multi-view EDOF images produced by **scAnt** were used to compare the quality of the SfM implementations in a (1) low-cost commercial and (2) entirely open-source photogrammetry software: (1) SfM mesh generated with **3DF Zephyr Lite** (2) SfM mesh generated with **Meshroom 2020** All code, CAD drawings, and assembly instructions here: https://skfb.ly/6XGpP Find us at http://evo-biomech.ic.ac.uk/
