Asset Overview

Yunnan Province, China, ~518 million years old. *Myllokunmingia* had a head with a pair of eyes and a nasal opening, up to six pairs of **gills** housed in pouches on the lower surface of the head, and a **dorsal fin** supported by stiff radial rods. It also had **Z-shaped blocks of muscle** and would have been able to swim freely through the water by moving its body side-to-side like a fish.
