Asset Overview

7 years ago, I scanned this Nanotyrannus : https://sketchfab.com/3d-models/nanotyrannus-lancensis-young-t-rex-7b0967fa27674d959647868686b6717b . However, the model was far from perfect. I figured I would scan it again for the Agisoft Nature Challenge. This time, I managed to create a watertight model that should be 3D printable. I also set the number of polygons to 300k on purpose : half the weight of the original model, but with more details ! This is a cast of the real fossil of a Nanotyrannus Lancensis found in Gilmore, Montana, in the Hell Creek formation, in 1946. It is about 65 million years old. Scientists used to think Nanotyrannus Lancensis was a species distinct from the famous T-Rex, but recent discoveries tend to show that a nanotyrannus is actually a young T-Rex. You might ask yourself why the skull is not symmetrical : this deformation occured during the fossilization process. 3D scanned at the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris, France.
