They are childlike in build, and their entire body is green or red. They often have a dish on the top of their head. The dish is a circular, smooth, hairless area that is always wet with water, and is said to lose its power or die if the dish dries out or breaks. The mouth is a short beak, the back has a tortoise-like shell, the limbs are often said to have scrapers, and there are said to be three anuses. Their body odor is fishy, and their appearance is sometimes described as monkey or otter-like.
