This skull belongs to the largest living species of bird, the common ostrich (*Struthio camelus*). Native to certain large areas of Africa, this is one of the only two extant ostrich species. Not only are they the largest in size but they also lay the largest egg (1.5 kg) of any living bird which in fact contains the largest single cell currently known. Though they are flightless, they set the land speed record for birds at 55 km/hr which they can maintain for a long time.
