Paraceratherium is a genus of extremely large mammals that lived in the Oligocene epoch, from 23 to 34 million years ago. They lived in a variety of environments, from deserts to subtropical forests. They are now extinct, with one likely cause being the spread of more successful elephants into their habitats.
