The *Mercenaria mercenaria*, also known as a quahog, hard clam, round clam, or hard shelled clam is a marine bivalve mollusk that live in intertidal zones at depths up to 10 meters. This species is natively found along the east coast of North America and from the Gulf of St. Lawrence into the Gulf of Mexico. However, it has been introduced to other areas including the coasts of California, England, Humboldt Bay, and Southern Brittany (https://animaldiversity.org/accounts/Mercenaria_mercenaria/).
