Asset Overview

Sperm whale (*Physeter* sp.) tooth Sperm whales are the largest toothed whales, the largest toothed predators and average 52 ft in length. This species can be found in any part of the ocean not covered by ice; they migrate seasonally for feeding and breathing. Sperm whales only have a bottom row of teeth. The roof of their mouth is covered in sockets that the lower teeth fit into. Teeth can be used to determine the age of whales, akin to rings on a tree. more info at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sperm_whale#Jaws_and_teeth Accession #: 23.04 Captured with Artec Spider 3D Scanner https://www.artec3d.com/portable-3d-scanners/artec-spider-v2
