An alien lifeform modeled, textured, and rigged with the intent to be used in a group animation as a final project for my introductory animation course. The tentacles were rigged with an IK curve, a regular IK for the neck, and the back legs with double IKs. The front arms were rigged usingsimple constraining.
As the model will be used in a short animation, I had to consider both time constraints and how taxing the model would be on render time for the one in charge of animation. With this in mind, I chose to model 'fur tufts' to place all over a shell I modeled, which was then all painted to appear like pine green fur.
The design of the creature itself was inspired by poodle moths, with elements of squid and owl thrown in as well.
