* Period/Epoch: Cenozoic / Eocene * Rock Formation: Green River Fm. * State, County: WY, Lincoln Taxonomy: Osteichthyes>Perciformes>Percidae>Mioplosus labracoides Mioplosus labracoides was a percid fish from the early and middle Eocene of North America, Europe, Asia, and close relatives in New Zealand. This particular species is best known from the Green River Formation, which has many well-preserved specimens of aquatic animals from Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. The largest one found was 20 inches long, but are not usually longer than 16 inches in fossil form. This specimen is a near-complete skeleton with carbonization over the entirety of the body.
