Asset Overview
The western lantern tortoise is actually fairly well camouflaged during the whole year, except for the autumn months, when it has to actively look for as much food as possible to survive hibernation during the cold winter months. Forfeiting camouflage strategy, it uses bioluminescent cells in it's skin and the thinner parts of it's shell to scare away predators with a haunting, glowing face on it's back that resembles a far larger creature. Because of it's appearance, and it's active behaviour during the halloween season, it's often mistaken for a large pumpkin in the dark, hence it's name.
Happy halloween everyone!
