Asset Overview

A cranium, mandible and C1 vertebra from Zabulu, one of Auckland Zoo's much-loved male giraffe (*Giraffa camelopardalis*). Zabulu lived a full life at Auckland Zoo where he fathered 15 calves. You can learn more about Zabulu here: https://www.aucklandzoo.co.nz/news/gentle-giant-zabulu 3D digitisation allows Zabulu to inspire and educate future generations about the importance of animal diversity. Zabulu is now an osteological specimen that students can use to learn about animal anatomy. The 3D models are free to download under a CC Attribution - Non Commercial licence. We thank you for your respectful use of the 3D models. Osteological preparation and digitisation work was completed by a team at Massey University in collaboration with Auckland Zoo. Team members included Odette Howarth, Emma Holvast, Samantha Carruthers, Simone Giovanardi and Daniel Thomas (School of Natural and Computational Sciences). 3D scanning used a Creaform HandyScan Black with VX Elements. Model assembled in Blender 2.80
