The FG42 was a Nazi Germany firearm designed to give paratroopers an edge in the battlefield. It was arguably one of the most advanced firearms used during WW2.
The firearm was conceived when Germany requested a firearm for its airborne forces. It had to be no lighter than a K98 and relatively short.
When shooting in semi automatic mode, the firearm would fire from a closed bolt, but when firing in full auto, the gun would be switched to open bolt.
The model shown here is a late war version.
