Asset Overview

The Springfield M1903 was a bolt action rifle used by America during ww1, 2 and several conflicts beyond. It borrowed heavily from the Mauser action rifles of Germany, such as the Gewehr 98. Infact, it borrowed so much from mauser's designs that the united states government had to pay around $250,000 of royalties to Mauser itself. The model seen here is the second version of the WW1 era rifle. It was in short supply during this time and was mostly overshadowed by the M1917 Enfield. During WW2 the rifle was given several upgrades and re-designated as the M1903a3. This version had it's rear sight on the reciever rather than halfway down the barrel.
