Asset Overview
The Alfa A1 vacuum cleaner of 1957 presented here has a steel body onto which stamped covers of steel are mounted. The vacuum cleaner bodies were made of hot-rolled metal sheets. In 1952-1960, many operations in the production process were performed manually. Metal sheets, cut into the required forms, were bent on a roller and then connected with a rabbet joint. Then, to flatten the surface, the bodies were hammered on a former with rubber or wooden mallets in order to achieve a cylindrical shape. The front and rear covers, formed by stamping, were polished and then plated. A steel bushing was installed in a previously made hole in the front cover, which was both the air inlet and outlet. The vacuum cleaner bags were hand sewn. The device had a 400W suction unit manufactured in Germany (GDR).
