Luke of Simferopol (born Valentin Felixovich Voyno-Yasenetsky), known as Saint Luke the Blessed Surgeon, was an outstanding surgeon, the founder of purulent surgery, a spiritual writer, a bishop of the Russian Orthodox Church, and archbishop of Simferopol and the Crimea from May 1946. Doctor of Medical Sciences. He was a laureate of the Stalin Prize in medicine in 1946.
Archbishop Luke fell victim to repression and spent 11 years in exile.
He was canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church on May 25, 1996.
