Tsunami Memorial Park Nakanohama, established in May 2014, is a memorial of the tsunami disaster by The 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake in March 2011. The park is located in the north of Miyako City (Iwate Prefecture). This place was formerly a camping site, where more than 15-m high tsunami devastated the entire valley. The artificial mound in the center of the park is made of recycled materials derived from tsunami-driven debris, having a height of 13 m which corresponds to the tsunami inundation height.
