Asset Overview

This model has arranged two archetypal female statues from the ancient Greco-Roman world so that they gaze at one another to juxtapose the different characteristics each highlights and close off the (presumed) male gaze they were designed to engage. Created using existing 3D models in meshmixer Left: Wounded Amazon sculpture, "Sciarra type", Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, Copenhagen, Denmark. Acquired in 1897 from the Palazzo Sciarra, Palazzo Barberini, purchased from Cardinal del Monte in 1628, found in the former Gardens of Sallust, Rome. Right: Aphrodite Braschi, from Quintilians villa in Rome, Greek. 4th century B.C., copy, München, Glyptothek Inv. GI. 258, The Royal Cast Collection (Copenhagen, Denmark).
