Asset Overview

Castle Butte, in Big Muddy Badlands in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada, reaches a height of approximately 200 feet with a distance around of about 1/4 mile. The lighting at dusk highlights the rock formation as the horizon displays vibrant colors of yellow, pink and red. A landmark leftover from the Ice Age, many early settlers used Castle Butte as a marker while traveling across the prairies. As you get closer to Castle Butte, you can see how the clay slopes have eroded over the years and how the vegetation has started to grow on the surface of the rock formation. Many people park along the base of Castle Butte and hike to the top of this rock formation where they can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Big Muddy Badlands.
