Asset Overview

I captured each of these separately and then accidentally processed them together and I liked it so much that I didn't separate them. The back of the stones clearly shows the extent to which downslope erosion had obscured the lower portion of the stones before they were cleaned up and cared for. On the left is the tombstone of William B. Disbrow (born c. 1822, d. 1903) and on the right is the tombstone of his wife, Clarissa Disbrow (b. 1817, d. 1901). Mr. Disbrow was originally from Connecticut and Mrs. Disbrow from New York. After coming to Santa Cruz from Kansas in 1875 they ran the Seaside Home for a couple of years (http://santacruzblogazine.com/2014/01/25/santa-cruz-1879/). The General Land Office (now BLM) recorded that two tracts of land were sold to Mr. Disbrow in June 1883 (http://files.usgwarchives.net/ca/santacruz/land/scruz.txt). The Great Register of voters from 1890 records Mr. Disbrow as a farmer living in Branciforte, which is the area of modern day midtown Santa Cruz.
