WHAT?
The concept of a street in the sky is a multi level city of skyscrapers linked by sky bridges, underground tramways, subways, and multiple levels of elevated pedestrian streets above traffic. It is a complex and intriguing concept that was to dominate modernist thinking about how future cities might function.
WHY?
It is a complex and intriguing idea that was to dominate modernist thinking about how the cities of the future might work. it is envisaged the streets in the sky are intended to become a new city circulation system, allowing pedestrians to move around in the fresh air and daylight far above the traffic below.
HOW?
To make this work, the buildings would need to be linked so that walkways and bridges connected the blocks on the upper levels. The resulting plan is an inside-out view of the city. Buildings, rather than streets, serve as structural elements.
