Asset Overview

Belt buckle recovered from the lower level of the topsoil during the excavations of the Calgarth Estate. The buckle was approximately 6cm x 4cm and was a rectangular copper alloy frame with two slots within it and a prong attached to the centre bar. Stylistically it was difficult to identify, but similar examples from the late 1940s and early 1950s are known, both genders could have used this type of belt buckle. The style does have a utilitarian/ military association.
