Asset Overview
Charles Willson Peale created this painting from 1806 to 1808 showing the excavation of a mastodon skeleton in New York state in 1801 that he led. This was the first scientific excavation in American history. I converted a version of this painting to a lithophane using http://3dp.rocks/lithophane/. The original painting normally is on exhibit at the Maryland Historical Society in Baltimore (http://www.mdhs.org/digitalimage/exhumation-mastodon).
