The Sierra Madre de Chiapas, located in southern Mexico, is an extension of mountains with various ecosystems, including dry forests, medium rainforests, cloud forests and pine-oak forests. The great diversity of the Sierra Madre de Chiapas is due to the Mesoamerican biogeographic influence and exposure to humidity from the Pacific and the Gulf of Mexico.
The area presents diverse pressures of degradation and fragmentation of the forests in the watersheds of the Pacific coastal slope. Based on this, Pronatura Sur seeks to generate in the medium and long term a landscape-level impact with the potential to offer a series of benefits such as ensuring the permanence of the forest masses assigned as conservation areas in the management programs and the conservation of the region's flora and fauna species.
Pronatura Sur is working on forest production, forest restoration and forest protection, including biodiversity conservation criteria, high conservation values and emission reductions derived from good manageme
