This graphite-bearing schist comes from Ticonderoga, New York, on the eastern flank of the Adirondack Mountains. Quartz, biotite, muscovite, and graphite are all easily seen with a hand lens. Feldspars, some quite altered, and secondary iron oxides are also present. In hand specimen, the abundant ,icas and graphite sparkle but it does not show well in this model. The specimen is 9 cm wide.
