Asset Overview
This andesite comes from Mineral County, Nevada. It contains mostly fine-grained plagioclase and black hornblende phenocrysts. The darker matrix contains hornblende, and minor K-feldspar, augite and quartz -- but they cannot be seen in hand sample. This specimen is 8 cm across.
