Asset Overview

The Jungla Peumayen represents 3,300 ha of native forests, scrubland and high Andean steppe at the foot of the Nevados de Chillán. It is located within the 160,000 ha "Nevados de Chillán" Biodiversity Priority Site, which was classified as a "high priority zone" for conservation by the Chilean Ministry of the Environment. The main objective is to conserve the ecosystems & the biodiversity, through an integral view of the territory. The place also offers attractions and trails with the idea of coexisting with nature in a harmonious and sustainable way. It is presented as an open school where conservation, tourism, education, art and wellbeing are developed through active experiences in nature. In addition, it is adjacent to two key protected areas for the conservation of the central Chilean population of huemul deer, a key element for biological connectivity. Threats are linked to unsustainable livestock and forestry management practices.
