Asset Overview

Structurally complex zone in Pembrokeshire, SW Wales. Carboniferous fluvio-deltaic deposits are deformed here by a combination of folding and thrusting. 3 exposed cliff sections record lateral changes in structural style in these sedimentary rocks. This lateral variation is likely because of changes in the composition of the units, defined by the conditions of deposition. Where the units are sand-rich, they are deformed by low-amplitude, large folds. Where muddy layers are more common, tighter folds and complex structures are dominant. Virtual outcrop generated from 925 photos in *Agisoft Photoscan* by Adam Cawood. Photos taken by Yuki Totake using a Nikon D3200. Text by Adam Cawood
