Salvemos Río Sapo

The Rio Sapo natural area provides a variety of environmental goods and services. The local economy, health, resilience and, in general, the quality of life and the potential for sustainable development depend to a large extent on these. Such environmental or ecosystem benefits include water capture and storage, climate regulation, erosion control, oxygen production, and natural disaster prevention, among others. The Río Sapo natural area is a unique ecosystem in El Salvador, offering a diversity of landscapes suitable for ecotourism, education, scientific research, and cultural identity. All of this makes it a conservation priority for human well-being and development in coexistence with a diversity of species unique to the region and the country. The uncontrolled growth of tourism, new human settlements, the poor disposal of the waste produced by these, hydroelectric dam construction projects, uncontrolled logging, poaching and fishing, are the biggest threats that Rio Sapo is currently experiencing. Our
