It is an area of ​​3,600 hectares of mountain ranges, plateaus, slopes and waterfalls, which give the place its name. The Metropolitan Region, with more than 7 million inhabitants, has few natural areas for environmental interpretation and scientific research. This area located in the Cajón del Maipo offers an opportunity for people from Santiago, to know more about their environment, and at the same time a place to enjoy contact with nature. The management plan for the period 2020-2030, developed by WCS and the Pulso Ambiental Foundation, identifies the water network, the Andean ecosystem (Andean wetlands), sclerophyllous vegetation, Andean felines, condor, sense of community, and historical and archeological sites as conservation targets; and climate change, hydroelectric projects, invasive exotic species, and fires as priority threats. To protect these objects and address the threats, a series of projects are being carried out, including the cascade animal refuge that rehabilitates native animals, monito
