The Amazon basin is home to the largest existing tropical rainforest. The rainforest conservation area of Selva Viva is located on the shores of Rio Arajuno in Eastern Ecuador. The protected area has continuosly expanded since its creation in 1995 and now covers 1750 hectares of vital rainforest habitat. Selva Viva also serves as a release site for wild animals rehabilitated at the adjacent Amazoonico Wildlife Rescue Center.
