Skull with traumatic injury

3D model of the skull of a female individual with evidence of healed traumatic injury, possibly resulting from a small, bladed weapon. Evidence of treponemal disease (e.g., syphilis), sinusitis, meningitis, and osteomyelitis are also present in the skeleton. The skeleton was not interred in a coffin, but was found in the cemetery at Skriðuklaustur monastery, which was excavated between 2002 and 2012. The individual retained one baby tooth and was around 20-40 years of age at death.
