Late 18th to 19th century decorative military Livery or dress jacket button. This copper alloy object is made up of two parts. Produced using a machine stamping method.
This button has embossed details of a shield design split into divisions showing the important part of a crest, including a lion on hind legs, shell, crescent and stars. Reverse shows maker mark FIRMIN & SON STRAND LONDON. It is likely to have been lost from an item of clothing belonging to a male of status.
