Herakles, from the environs of Rome, early 1st centurt A.D., Marble, Nye Carlsberg Glyptotek (Copenhagen, Denmark). Herakles holds the golden apples of the Hesperides behind his back. One of the hero´s Twelve Labours for King Eurystheus was to fetch the golden apples, which granted eternal life. This is a copy of one of the works of Polykleitos from around 450B.C.
