Asset Overview

3D model of an outcrop of the Bellerophon Formation (Upper Permian) in the Tschantschenon ravine, Villnöss Valley, South Tyrol (Italy). The Bellerophon Formation consists of shallow marine sediments of a lagunal setting which is manifested in a marl-limestone-evaporites alternation. Eponymous for the formation is the snail species Bellerophon. For scale: tree trunks lying in the canyon are about 15 m each. Model compiled by Julian Welte.
